?What is Glycated Hemoglobin (LA1C)?

LA1C measures the percentage of hemoglobin molecules in red blood cells that have glucose attached to them, reflecting average blood sugar levels over the previous 2–3 months. It is a key indicator of long-term glycemic control and is widely used to screen for and diagnose prediabetes and type 2 diabetes. Unlike fasting glucose tests, LA1C is not affected by recent meals and provides a stable measure of glucose management.

Elevated LA1C levels may suggest poor blood sugar control and increased risk of developing diabetes and its complications, including cardiovascular disease, kidney damage, and neuropathy.
