?What is Pus Cells (WBC) / HPF?

Pus cells (white blood cells) in urine are measured per high power field (HPF) during urinalysis. Elevated levels may suggest a urinary tract infection, inflammation, or kidney involvement. Normal urine typically contains few or no pus cells.

The presence of pus cells can be associated with urinary tract infections, kidney inflammation, or other genitourinary conditions. Detecting elevated pus cells may prompt further investigation and early treatment to prevent complications. However, a single result requires clinical correlation and is not diagnostic on its own.
