?What is T-Score?

The T-Score is a measurement of bone mineral density (BMD) expressed as the number of standard deviations above or below the average BMD of a healthy 30-year-old adult of the same sex. It is obtained through dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) scanning and is the standard diagnostic tool for assessing bone strength and osteoporosis risk. T-Scores help clinicians identify individuals at increased risk for fractures.

T-Score results can indicate bone strength and fracture risk. Lower T-Scores may suggest decreased bone density and could be associated with increased susceptibility to fractures, particularly in the hip, spine, and wrist. Periodic rescreening every 1–2 years may be advised for those on osteoporosis treatment.
